If you’re looking to renovate your kitchen, or you simply want to change up your old color scheme, now is a good time to do it. But what’s hot in the world of kitchen design? Here are six kitchen design trends that we’re seeing more and more of for you to keep in mind when it comes time to redesign your kitchen:
Bold Color Schemes
We’re seeing a trend toward warm colors such as red, orange, and yellow. But don’t count out some cool colors such as blues and greens if that’s your preference, because they are also gaining in popularity.
Islands often depend on the space available, but if you have the space and don’t have an island, add one. It’s really the focal point of any kitchen, and by adding an island, you will have additional seating, storage, and a food prep area. Or, if you want to mix it up a little, you can add a prep sink or relocate a cooktop.
People are starting to forego cabinets for open shelving. It can really add some personality to your kitchen to display your favorite items. Plus, it helps kitchens have a more open feel. If you choose this path, then consider hidden storage (deeper drawers, internal storage systems, etc.) so that you have a place for things that are best kept out of site.
If you’re a techie, why not add a little tech to your kitchen? There are hands-free sinks, fridges that can tell you when you need to go to the store, and appliances that you can run with your smartphone. Talk about convenient!
Concealed and Understated Lighting
LEDs are so bright that you really don’t need much to light your kitchen and still have a well-lit workspace. You can add LED strips under your cabinets and use pendant lights above your island for task lighting. And don’t forget about recessed lights in your ceiling for general illumination.
Multiple Ovens and Appliances
If you’re a self-professed chef, then having more than one oven is almost a necessity. No longer will you be limited to cooking one dish at a time. Some people are even requesting multiple dishwashers just to keep up with the demand for running a modern family home.
